Informational Meeting on Civic Education

On December 12, 2019, on the initiative of the Department of Human Rights Education of the Public Defender’s Office and the Gori Office of the Eastern Division, meetings were held with school teachers and students of Gori municipality.

Representatives of the Public Defender, Gvantsa Davitashvili, Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Ana Janiashvili introduced the activities of the Department of Human Rights Education to the teachers and students and talked about the needs of civic education in schools. Special attention was paid to the improvement of textbooks and the importance of professional retraining of teachers.

The role of the Public Defender in the process of human rights education, as well as the importance of active involvement of teachers of various disciplines, was underlined at the meeting. In addition, in the best interests of students, the Public Defender's Office of Georgia will continue to identify challenges in the field of human rights education and will continue to cooperate with relevant agencies.
