Meeting with UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights of Internally Displaced Persons

On 4 July 2019, the Public Defender of Georgia, Nino Lomjaria, met with UN Special Rapporteur on the humanrights of internally displaced persons, Cecilia Jimenes, and talked about the human rights situation in the country, Public Defender's mandate and activities of the Public Defender's Office.

The Public Defender emphasized the challenges faced by internally displaced persons, including long-term resettlement, hard living conditions in former compact settlement facilities, earnings and integration of IDPs. She also talked about the possible ways of solving problems.

The meeting was also attended by Yoko Akasaka, acting UNHCR Regional Representative in the South Caucasus, Salome Kusikashvili, Advisor for Legal Issues, Meri Kochlamazashvili and Nino Sulamanidze, representatives of the Public Defender of Georgia.
