Meeting of Consultative Council for Promotion, Protection and Monitoring of Implementation of Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities

On June 18, 2018, the Consultative Council for Promotion, Protection and Monitoring of the Implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities held its 15th meeting. The meeting was attended by Deputy Public Defender Ekaterine Skhiladze, representatives of the Office and visiting members of the Council.

At the meeting, the Head of the Department of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities presented information about the implemented and planned activities in the direction of protection and monitoring of the rights of persons with disabilities. The visiting members of the Council discussed the topical issues of the agenda. Special attention was paid to the topic of mental health, challenges in the field of inclusive education and the importance of taking into account the needs of persons with disabilities at the local level.

Participants of the meeting discussed the rights situation of persons with disabilities and the processes related to the implementation of the UN Convention.

The next meeting of the consultative body will be held within 2 months.
