Public Defender of Georgia Submits Alternative Report to UN Committee on Rights of Persons with Disabilities

On June 14, 2017, the Public Defender of Georgia submitted an alternative report to the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which had been prepared within the framework of the independent national mechanism of monitoring the promotion, protection and implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities – the mandate granted in accordance with Article 33 (2) of the Convention.

The report focuses on the main challenges in the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Georgia.

The aim of the document is to inform the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities of the important issues, which, according to the Public Defender of Georgia, need attention during discussion of the implementation of the Convention in Georgia.

The Public Defender of Georgia expresses his readiness to further participate in the discussion of the report by the Committee.
