Public Defender Takes Part in the Opening of Houses of Justice in Penitentiary Establishments

On June 12, 2023, the Public Defender of Georgia took part in an event related to the opening of Houses of Justice in the penitentiary establishments.

The innovation involves on-site access to more than 50 services of the House of Justice for those in prison.

"Many prisoners have applied to me with this problem, saying that they are not able to get an identity card on time, a power of attorney for their children or other additional documents. I welcome the creation of this service in the penitentiary establishment, which is a step forward in terms of human rights protection", said the Public Defender.

The first branch of the House of Justice was opened in Penitentiary Establishment No. 16 and will gradually be launched in other institutions as well.
