Meeting with Ombudsman of Tajikistan

On February 14, 2020, the Public Defender of Georgia, Nino Lomjaria, met with the Ombudsman of the Republic of Tajikistan, Umed Bobozoda, who is paying an official visit to Georgia. The parties discussed the activities and mandates of ombuds institutions of the two countries.

Nino Lomjaria briefed her Tajik counterpart on the situation of equality in the country, importance of anti-discrimination law, issues related to its implementation, including the legislative and practical measures taken.

The Tajik Ombudsman showed interest in the experience of the Georgian Public Defender as an A-status organization of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI).

The meeting was also attended by the Deputies of the Public Defender, Giorgi Burjanadze and Ekaterine Skhiladze.
