Roundtable - New Partnership for the Rule of Law, Democracy and Human Rights in the EU Enlargement Countries

On February 20, 2024, the Deputies of the Public Defender of Georgia, Tamar Gvaramadze and Elene Ghudushauri, took part in a working meeting held in Brussels, in the European Parliament, which dealt with the issues of the rule of law, democracy and human rights in the EU enlargement countries. The event was held in a roundtable format.

At the working meeting, representatives of the national human rights institutions operating in the countries with the EU enlargement package provided Members of European Parliament with information about their work in the direction of the rule of law.

In her speech, First Deputy Public Defender Tamar Gvaramadze discussed the mandate of the Public Defender and talked about the cooperation of the Office with the EU institutions and involvement in the process of integration into the European Union. She also informed the attendees of the main issues of the rule of law that are reflected in the Public Defender's special report every year, including the activities of the judiciary and independent institutions.

The meeting was organized by the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI).
