Opening of Public Defender's Office in Ozurgeti

On November 16, 2015, Public Defender Ucha Nanuashvili opened the eighth office in Ozurgeti, Guria region, in order to strengthen the regional capacities of the Public Defender's Office.

The Office will be headed by Maka Malakmadze, which was selected by the Public Defender's Office through competition.

At the opening, the Public Defender reviewed challenges of human rights in Guria region and called on the Ozurgeti Mayor, the Governor of Guria, representatives of the media and non-governmental organizations to have close cooperation.

Apart from Ozurgeti, the Public Defender's Offices operate in the cities of Gori, Batumi, Kutaisi, Zugdidi, Telavi, Marneuli and Akhalkalaki. In addition, the Public Defender has contact persons in various regions. They proactively cooperate with the Public Defender's Offices in case of human rights abuses.
