Public Defender Meets with Father of Davit Saralidze Killed on Khorava Street

On June 1, 2018, Public Defender Nino Lomjaria met with Zaza Saralidze, the father of Davit Saralidze who was killed on Khorava Street, and informed him of the details of the proceedings underway at the Public Defender’s Office in relation to Davit Saralidze.

The Public Defender's Office has been actively monitoring the investigation of the case from the very beginning; she has attended the closed trials and she will be able to familiarize herself with the case materials since the court has already declared the verdict. According to Nino Lomjaria, at this stage, the most important thing is to carry out objective and timely investigation into the murder and to identify the person or persons involved in the crime.

The Public Defender also listened to Zaza Saralidze's demands and expectations towards her and said that she would proactively study the case within her mandate in order to establish how objective, thorough and fair the investigation was, whether there were violations and misconduct, what served as grounds for the Prosecutor’s Office to establish that only two persons were involved in the crime, etc.

The Public Defender's Office will prepare a special report on the events developed after the incident that occurred on Khorava Street on December 1, 2017 and will present it to the public.
