Informational Meetings in Chokhatauri and Ozurgeti Municipalities

On 30 October 2019, Tamar Oganov, a representative of the Western Georgia Division of the Public Defender's Office, held an informational meeting with members of the Chokhatauri Municipal Council Bureau and Gender Equality Council.

The recommendations made for the local self-governments, which were included in the Public Defender's 2018 Parliamentary Report, were discussed at the meeting.

Particular attention was paid to the challenges, access to inclusive education in preschools and activities of the Gender Equality Council.

On October 31, the Public Defender’a representative met with students and teachers of the Horizon College in Ozurgeti and spoke about the Public Defender's mandate and key areas of activity. She also discussed early marriage as a violation of child’s rights, domestic violence, its causes, state services for victims of domestic violence, and the Public Defender's practice and recommendations in this direction.
