On 19 February 2019, Nino Lomjaria, the Public Defender of Georgia, met with Arja Inkeri Makkonen, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Finland to Georgia, and briefed her of the Public Defender's mandate.

The Public Defender generally reviewed the human rights situation, focusing on the challenges in the direction of gender and equality; she also spoke about the activities of the Public Defender's Office in the field of civic education and highlighted Finland's practice in this direction.

The Public Defender thanked the Ambassador for Finland’s support for the Public Defender's Office. The parties expressed willingness for deepening the cooperation.
