Public Defender Meets with Vazha Gaprindashvili

On January 6, 2020, the Public Defender of Georgia met with Dr. Vazha Gaprindashvili, a Georgian citizen released from the Tskhinvali prison, and his wife Tamila Lapanashvili. Nino Lomjaria congratulated Vazha Gaprindashvili on his release and peaceful return to his family. The Public Defender showed particular interest in the details of the detention conditions and treatment of Vazha Gaprindashvili and other prisoners.

At the end of the meeting, Vazha Gaprindashvili expressed gratitude for the support and assistance provided by the Public Defender's Office.

One of the priority areas of the Public Defender's activity is to supervise the protection of human rights in the occupied territories of Georgia and to protect the rights of our fellow citizens by using local and international mechanisms.
