Meeting on Violence against Women and Domestic Violence in Kakhati

On October 29, 2019, Public Defender’s representative Koka Mebonia held an informational meeting on violence against women and domestic violence with teachers of the Kakhati public school of Zugdidi Municipality and the women from rural areas.

Koka Mebonia spoke about the concept and forms of gender-based violence. The working principles of the mechanisms against violence caused particular interest. Women's economic equality and the importance of projects aimed at women's economic empowerment, women’s engagement and participation in the decision-making process, importance of studying women's needs, access to services for victims of violence and necessity for support measures were discussed at the meeting.

The locals of Kakhati also received information about the rules and procedures for applying to the Public Defender's Office.
