On 2 November 2018, the Public Defender of Georgia met with students and professors of the universities affiliated with the Association of Private Higher Education Institutions. Nino Lomjaria talked about the importance of human rights education on the path of further democratic development of the country, the role of obmudsman’s institution in this direction and the mandate of the Public Defender.

At the end of the meeting, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Public Defender and the Association, which will facilitate human rights education and professional development of students at higher education level.

Joint educational projects, scientific seminars, conferences and public lectures will be implemented within the framework of the memorandum. In addition, the Association of Private Higher Education Institutions will regularly inform the Public Defender's Office about the alleged violations of students and professors’ rights in order to ensure further response to the violations.

The meeting was organized by the Association of Private Higher Education Institutions at the Grigol Robakidze University.
