The Public Defender awards the winning journalists

On June 20, 2010, the Public Defender of Georgia awarded journalists working in the area of human rights who took part in and won the competition held by the Public Defender’s Office in the framework of the EU-funded project “Supporting the Public Defender’s Office”.
 
The winners were chosen in the following nominations:

The best TV story on IDP issues – Imeda Darsalia – GNS studio – Report of the Week

The best radio program or story on IDP issues – Goga Aptsiauri and Eka Kevanishvili – Radio Liberty
 
The best article on IDP issues – Manana Tugunidze – Expressnews news agency
 
The legal status of persons with disabilities:
 
The best TV story on the issues of persons with disabilities – Giorgi Gvishiani – Rustavi 2 TV station
 
The best radio program or story on the issues of persons with disabilities – Tamar Abramishvili – Imedi radio station
 
The best article on the issues of persons with disabilities – Lana Beridze – The Resonance newspaper
 
Children’s rights:
 
The best TV story on the issues of children’s rights – Eka Soselia – Imedi TV station and Ekaterine Kadagishvili – Rustavi 2 TV station
 
The best article on the issues of children’s rights – Marika Kochiashvili – Liberali magazine
 
The competition aimed at raising awareness of the protection of human rights and of the mandate and activities of the Public Defender in the Georgian media and society.
 
Only authors of materials published or broadcast from February 15 to May 15 took part in the competition.
