On May 3 of the same year, news outlets disseminated information that in the Kutaisi Theatre of Opera and Ballet a journalist of the local P.S. newspaper, Irakli Vachiberidze, was not allowed to attend the meeting with the local self-government and activists of the National Movement. According to him, four persons in civilian clothes whom he did not know beat him and took away his equipment, which was later returned by a stranger.
The Public Defender of Georgia has started studying the aforementioned facts. In particular, on May 3, 2012, representatives of the Public Defender of Georgia met and took explanatory notes from a correspondent of the Pirveli news agency, Nodar Jojua; a journalist of the Dzveli Kalaki radio station and the Versia newspaper, Tornike Khurtsidze; a journalist of the P.S. newspaper, Irakli Vachiberidze; and a journalist of Mega-TV TV station, Aleko Gvetadze.
