Human Rights and 10-Year Practice of Development Projects

The decisions made regarding various large projects over the years has caused distrust and resistance of the society in Georgia. The Public Defender considered it important to introduce human rights-based approach in this direction.

The present study serves to help overall and systemic understanding of the relevant projects implemented over the years in Georgia, which had influence on human rights; in addition, the document reviews the interrelationship between the environment and human rights, the role of business in the process of realization of human rights and relevant international approaches relating to the challenges identified in Georgia.

The study was prepared jointly by the Public Defender’s Office and the Danish Institute for Human Rights.
