Meeting on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in Telavi

On May 14, 2018, representatives of the Gender Equality Department of the Public Defender’s Office held a meeting with representatives of local NGOs and other stakeholders in Telavi, Kakheti region.

The representatives of the Gender Equality Department briefed the participants of the meeting on the key findings of the study on Human Rights in the Context of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Well-being, gaps in the health care legislation and service delivery in the context of sexual and reproductive health and well-being.

A discussion was held at the end of the meeting, during which, representatives of NGOs and researchers spoke about the problems relating to women's reproductive health in the region, emphasized the situation of particularly vulnerable groups and the specific needs of the Kakheti region with respect to various groups. The participants of the meeting expressed their readiness to get engaged in the second phase of activities, which includes individual meetings and in-depth interviews with various groups.

The event was organized within the framework of the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Project that is financially supported by UNFPA.
