Interactive Dialogue on Children's Rights

On November 21, 2025, on the occasion of World Children's Day, which is celebrated annually on November 20, the Public Defender's Office, in cooperation with the European Union and UNICEF, held an interactive dialogue on children's rights.

The event was attended by schoolchildren as well as representatives of the European Union Delegation, UNICEF and the Public Defender's Office.

A panel discussion was held as part of the event, which gave children the opportunity to ask questions and engage in a direct dialogue with the panelists on their rights. The discussion was attended by Nicolas Sendrovic, Head of the Development and Cooperation Department of the European Union Delegation, Jesper Moller, UNICEF Representative in Georgia, and Irine Chikhladze, Deputy Public Defender.

The panelists answered three main questions: why it is important for children to know their rights and how adults can support their active participation; how to strengthen the involvement of children and young people in decision-making processes; why children's rights are a priority for the European Union.

In addition, the meeting presented child-friendly information materials on children's rights, developed by the Public Defender’s Office with the support of the European Union and UNICEF. Children had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with these resources and share their opinions. These materials are available at the following link ➡ https://shorturl.at/oFlWS

The event is part of the joint initiative of the European Union and UNICEF - "Human Rights for All - Realizing Children's Rights to Family, Justice and an Adequate Standard of Living", which aims to protect children, empower them, develop the capacities of professionals and create a supportive environment for children.
