Public Defender of Georgia Becomes Full Member of European Network of Ombudsmen for Children (ENOC)

On March 29, 2018, by the decision of the Board of the European Network of Ombudsmen for Children (ENOC), the Public Defender's Office of Georgia became a full member of the organization. This status represents an international recognition of the efforts of the Public Defender's Office in the field of protection of child’s rights and is especially important for strengthening the Center for Child's Rights of the Public Defender's Office.

The European Network of Ombudsmen for Children is an association of independent organizations protecting the child's rights, which carries out its mandate in compliance with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The aim of the organization is to establish links and share information and strategies with independent institutions working on the child's rights - ombudsmen for children, commissars for children, national human rights institutions and centers for child’s rights of the public defender's offices.

The network currently unites 42 institutions from 34 countries of the Council of Europe, 23 out of which are the EU countries. Membership of the organization is limited and is only allowed for 47 Member States of the Council of Europe.
