Public Defender of Georgia Visits Social Enterprise of Persons with Disabilities - Babale

On June 1, 2018, Nino Lomjaria, the Public Defender of Georgia, visited the Babale social enterprise together with the employees of the Public Defender's Office and painted a clay pot together with children.

It should be noted that the social enterprise carries out programs promoting inclusive vocational education and employment of children with disabilities and children with special educational needs.

Parents of the children participating in Babale's programs provided the Public Defender with information about the activities of the enterprise and the challenges in the direction of realization of the rights of children with disabilities, gaps in the field of education, problems of employment and accessibility.

The Public Defender noted at the meeting that implementation of similar initiatives and programs is particularly important for children with disabilities and special needs, including by educational institutions, which would allow children with disabilities and special needs to take active part in the public life and achieve financial and other kind of independence.
