Public Defender's Office Holds Information Meeting on Children’s Rights for Students of Tbilisi Public Schools
On December 11, 2025, an information meeting on children’s rights was held at the Public Defender's Office, with the support and involvement of the UNHCR Office in Georgia.
The goal of the event was to raise students' awareness of their rights and protection mechanisms. Students of Tbilisi public schools participated in the meeting.
The event was opened by the Deputy Public Defender and representatives of the UNHCR, who focused on the importance of protecting children's rights and the role of informing children in the process of realizing their rights.
The participants discussed cultural and linguistic diversity and the importance of equal opportunities for children in an interactive format, as well as the rights of the child, protection mechanisms developed by the State, and the general approaches that serve to create a supportive and safe environment in schools.
The students actively engaged in group work, during which they had the opportunity to share their opinions on human rights and freedoms, as well as what challenges they see in the school and social environment, and what role the State, school, and society have in ensuring that each child feels protected and supported.
