Meeting of Consultative Council of Monitoring Promotion, Protection and Implementation of Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities

On April 5, 2017, the Consultative Council of Monitoring the Promotion, Protection and Implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilitiesheld its tenth working meeting. The meeting was attended by Public Defender Ucha Nanuashvili, Deputy Public Defender Ekaterine Skhiladze, representatives of the Public Defender’s Office and invited members of the Council. The issues of the agenda, as well as other important topics, were discussed at the meeting.

Irine Oboladze, Head of the Public Defender’s Department of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, delivered a report about the efforts taken and planned in the field of monitoring the promotion, protection and implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilitiesand recommendations included in the Public Defender’s Parliamentary Report 2016.

In addition, special attention was paid to the discussion of the measures necessary for the evaluation of the “Technical regulations of architectural and planning elements and space design for persons with disabilities" approved by the Government’s resolution No 41.

The Council members welcomed the recent efforts and future plans of the Public Defender.

The next meeting of the Council will be held within 2 months.
