Memorandum of Cooperation between Public Defender of Georgia and UNDP

On April 7, 2023, Levan Ioseliani, Public Defender of Georgia, and Nick Beresford, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Georgia, signed a memorandum of understanding.

The memorandum aims to strengthen cooperation in the direction of improving the protection of the rights of the most vulnerable groups of Georgia, especially persons with disabilities.

Within the framework of the memorandum, the parties will pay particular attention to: equality, non-discrimination and protection of human rights of vulnerable groups, promotion of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and human rights-based approach to disability, strengthening of the national mechanism for the promotion, protection and monitoring of the implementation of the Convention and its consultative council, as well as implementation of research and monitoring measures.

Regarding the measures implemented within the framework of the memorandum, the parties will hold consultation meetings, exchange information and jointly report on the results achieved.
