Public Defender of Georgia Continues Official Meetings in Washington

Public Defender of Georgia Levan Ioseliani continues to hold meetings in Washington. The 12-point plan to be implemented in order to receive candidate status from the European Union was the main issue discussed at the meetings. Officials showed particular interest in issues of justice, polarization and freedom of the media.

The main message of Washington remains the support for the democratic processes and independent institutions in Georgia.

The Public Defender met with Nicole Chulick, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL), and Chris Andersen, DRL/EUR Director, as well as Jim Felt and Steven Rosenbaum at the Department of Justice. Meetings were also held at the White House with Brigid Ryan, DirectorforSouthern EuropeandSouth Caucasus at theNational Security Council.
