Public Defender Meets with OSCE/ODIHR Director

On 24 September 2019, Public Defender Nino Lomjaria, who is paying an official visit to Warsaw, met with Ingibjörg Sólrún Gísladóttir, Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), and discussed the issues of joint cooperation and the achievements of this cooperation.

The OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights submitted an opinion on the draft law on the rules of selection of Supreme Court judges of Georgia following the Public Defender’s appeal and now the organisation is observing the process at the invitation of the Public Defender.

Independence of the judiciary, pre-election environment and the process of constitutional reform in the direction of electoral changes were also discussed at the meeting.

The Public Defender invited the OSCE/ODIHR Director to Georgia. The parties agreed to deepen future cooperation.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Public Defender Giorgi Burjanadze.
