March 8 - International Women's Day

March 8 is celebrated all over the world as a symbol of women's struggle for gaining and improving their rights. On this day, we have the opportunity to evaluate the results achieved, see the challenges and once again emphasize the importance of protecting women's rights.

International Women's Day is not just a celebration; This is a call to action. It encourages us to assess the progress made towards gender equality and at the same time to recognize the challenges that exist.

In Georgia, as well as in many countries of the world, women played a decisive role in shaping the history and culture of our state. From advocating for social justice to stimulating economic growth, women have demonstrated their unwavering commitment to building a more just and inclusive society.

However, despite the strides made to achieve gender equality, we must work tirelessly to eliminate barriers of discrimination, violence and unequal access to opportunities.

The Public Defender hopes that the state will fulfill its international obligations regarding the protection of women's and girls' rights, which will contribute to the democratic development of the country.
