Annual Conference of European Network of Ombudspersons for Children

An annual conference and a session of the General Assembly of the European Network of Ombudspersons for Children (ENOC) were held in Vilnius, Lithuania, on September 20-22, 2015. Tamar Chkholaria and Tamta Babunashvili, representatives of the Center for Child's Rights of the Public Defender's Office, took part in the conference that was devoted to the issue of equal access to education for all children.

A film, made within the framework of a project carried out by the center of young advisors of the European Network of Ombudspersons for Children, was screened at the event. The Center for Child's Rights of the Public Defender's Office participated in the making of the film.

Experts and representatives of a number of countries made thematic presentations at the conference. The annual resolution, which this year refers to the right to equal access to education, was discussed at the General Assembly meeting.


Thematic issues were considered in the working groups; experience and practice of various countries were also shared. Representatives of the Public Defender's Office reviewed the rights situation of children under state care in Georgia, as well as the achievements and shortcomings of the state care system. In addition, they presented information about the results of the monitoring carried out by the Public Defender's Office and the recommendations prepared for the responsible agencies.
