Committee Hearing of Public Defender’s Annual Report

On May 20, 2016, the Parliamentary Committee of Human Rights and Civil Integration discussed the Public Defender’s report on the situation of human rights and freedoms in 2015.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Shalva Khutsishvili spoke about the situation of implementation of recommendations included in the Public Defender’s report by the Ministry.

The position of the Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs was presented by Marina Darakhvelidze, Head of the Department of Healthcare, Amiran Dateshidze, Head of the Department of Social Issues and Programs, and Amiran Zhorzholiani, Head of the Department of Labor and Employment Policy.

According to the reporters, implementation of a number of recommendations is actively underway.

At the end of the meeting, Eka Beselia, Head of the Parliamentary Committee of Human Rights and Civil Integration, said that the Committee will closely work with the Public Defender's Office in order to specify details of priorities in the process of drafting the Parliament’s decree on the implementation of recommendations included in the Public Defender’s annual report.
