Meeting with Representatives of Germany’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs

On 27 October 2015 Public Defender Ucha Nanuashvili met with Germany’s Special Representative to Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia Andreas Peschke and German Ambassador Bettina Cadenbach.

The sides discussed the state of human rights in Georgia and the work principles of Georgia’s Public Defender and his Office. They stressed the importance of reforms in the Prosecutor’s Office and law-enforcement agencies. The diplomats also talked about the freedom of the media in Georgia.

Protection of human rights in the occupied regions and the role of the Public Defender in this process were particularly considered at the meeting.

The Public Defender briefed the diplomats of the state of human rights of Internally Displaced Persons as well.
