Public Defender Calls on Chief Prosecutor's Office to Launch Investigation into Alleged Ill-treatment of Citizen by Police

The Public Defender appealed to the Chief Prosecutor to launch an investigation into the alleged ill-treatment of citizen D. Kh.

According to the applicant, on 4 November 2015, at about 23:00, he was arrested by officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs under the administrative law in Tbilisi and was put in a car, where one of the police officers hit him in the face. Later, the detainee was transferred to the 8th division of the Isani-Samgori police department and was physically abused in one of the rooms.

Bodily injuries of D. Kh. are documented in the protocol of the Tbilisi and Mtskheta-Mtianeti temporary detention facility of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to the citizen, on 10 November 2015 he underwent surgery at the Tbilisi Central Hospital due to the health problems caused by the injuries inflicted by police officers.
