Sagarejo Mayor Reimburses for Citizen’s Unpaid Wage following Public Defender's Appeal

The Public Defender praises the decision of the Mayor of Sagarejo municipality on reimbursing for a citizen’s unpaid wages - about 20 thousand GEL on the basis of the appeal of the Public Defender and hopes that there will be frequent examples of such successful cooperation with various state agencies and local self-governments in the future.

N.B. was fired on the basis of the order of 26 March 2015. He appealed to the Sighnaghi District Court, which partially granted his claim on 29 October 2015, which was later upheld by the Court of Appeal, while the Supreme Court of Tbilisi declared a cassation complaint inadmissible.

In spite of this, on 28 February 2018, the Mayor of Sagarejo issued an order on refusal to reimburse for N.B’s unpaid wages.

N.B. appealed to the Public Defender regarding the execution of the court judgment on 9 March 2018.

On May 21, 2018, representatives of the Regional Department and the Kakheti Office of the Public Defender's Office arrived in Sagarejo municipality. At the meeting, the Mayor of Sagarejo municipality agreed with the legal reasoning of the Public Defender's representatives and expressed readiness to execute the court judgment in the part of reimbursement for N.B.’s unpaid wages.
