On September 12, 2025, Levan Ioseliani, Public Defender of Georgia, met with the Belen Sanz Luque, UN Women Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia.

The meeting discussed the current situation of gender equality and human rights in the country, and the situation of women's human rights defenders following recent legislative changes.

The meeting was also attended by Kaori Ishikawa, UN Women Country Representative in Georgia and Liaison for the South Caucasus, Tamar Sabedashvili, UN Women Deputy Country Representative in Georgia, and Amanda Marianne Mindus, Special Assistant, UN Women.
