Public Defender Meets with Residents of Akhali Dioknisi
On September 4, 2025, the Public Defender of Georgia, Levan Ioseliani, visited the village of Akhali Dioknisi, Marneuli municipality, and met with locals. The village is home to about 90 families who were resettled from the Adjara region due to natural disasters about 35 years ago.
In a conversation with the Public Defender, the locals noted that their main problem was barriers related to property registration, including the registration of residential and agricultural land plots, which hinders their involvement in small business support programmes. In addition, the issue of drinking and irrigation water supply and frequent power outages represent a significant challenge. Internal roads and the road to the cemetery are in disrepair.
There is no kindergarten in New Dioknisi, and taking children to kindergarten in the neighboring village is difficult due to the lack of public transport. Another important problem for the village population is the issue of restoring the school's outdoor sports stadium, which is currently in danger and requires urgent rehabilitation.
