Public Defender's Office Named as the Most Open Public Agency

On 3 May 2019, the Public Defender’s Office was once again awarded as the most open public agency. The Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI) summarized the results of access to public information in 2018 and handed special certificates to the institutions with 100% indicator.

The Institute for Development of Freedom of Information requested 19 public information from the Public Defender's Office in 2018, which was handed over to the organization within the requested timeframe.

According to the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information, access to public information has slightly deteriorated in the country compared with the previous year: "Despite this, 80% indicator of response to letters has been maintained since 2014, which is largely conditioned by the high accountability of certain public institutions. In particular, public institutions such as the Public Defender's Office, the Personal Data Protection Inspector's Office and the State Audit Office have maintained the best indicator of access to public information for years and properly performed the obligation to issue public information under the law," – reads the report of the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information.

Access to public information is the priority of the Public Defender's Office. It should be noted that it is an honor for the Public Defender's Office to be once again awarded by such an authoritative organization.

The Institute for Development of Freedom of Information has awarded 43 open public institutions together with the Public Defender's Office.
