Public Defender Visits Sagarejo Social Housing

On June 25, 2025, Public Defender of Georgia Levan Ioseliani visited the Sagarejo social housing, inspected the building, and met with the beneficiaries living there.

The monitoring made it clear that the living conditions in the social housing, which currently accommodates more than 40 families, including socially vulnerable people, persons with disabilities, elderly people, and children, are degrading and require urgent response from the relevant municipal bodies.

The building's cracked, damp and partially collapsed walls, crumbling plaster, shaky or non-existent guardrails, broken sewage system, dampness, and periodic falling of material from the facade pose a threat to the residents. In addition, residents are not protected from wind or rain, some beneficiaries do not have access to the toilet and bathroom, and there is no lighting in the hallways.

It is worth noting that due to a faulty sewage system, wastewater flows outside, causing an unbearable smell. According to the residents, reptiles and rodents nest in the grass and garbage surrounding the building.

Based on the above, the Public Defender addressed the Sagarejo Mayor with a recommendation to provide the beneficiaries with appropriate housing.
