Public Defender Meets with Parliament Chairman

On January 20, 2017, Public Defender Ucha Nanuashvili held his first official meeting with Irakli Kobakhidze, Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia.

During the meeting, the Public Defender spoke about the current activities of the Public Defender's Office, the human rights situation in the country and the main recommendations developed in this direction. Particular attention was paid to the improvement of the Law on the Public Defender and the Law on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination, as well as the work of the Constitutional Commission.

Irakli Kobakhidze expressed full readiness for cooperation with Public Defender Ucha Nanuashvili and the Public Defender’s Office. Future prospects were also discussed during the meeting.
