On 20 December 2018, the Public Defender's Office hosted participants of the Diversity School, who met with Public Defender Nino Lomjaria and Deputy Public Defender Ekaterine Skhiladze.

Participants of the meeting were informed about the ombudsman's mandate and powers, asked questions and had the opportunity to get detailed information on issues, such as equality, challenges faced by ethnic and religious minorities, child’s rights, prevention of domestic violence, tolerance, etc.

Particular interest was shown in the ways of enforcement of Public Defender’s recommendations and obligations of the state to protect human rights. During the discussion, participants of the meeting talked about personal histories and problems in their cities and communities.

The Diversity School was organized within the framework of the Promoting Integration, Tolerance and Awareness (PITA), a project being implemented by the United Nations Association of Georgia with the financial support of the US Agency for International Development.
