The Public Defender met with Deputy Minister of Foreign affairs of the Czech Republic

On March 25, 2015, the Public Defender of Georgia Ucha Nanuashvili met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Jakub Kulhanek. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Public Defender Natia Katsitadze, Parliamentary Secretary of the Public Defender Ekaterine Popkhadze and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. During the meeting, situation with regards to protection of human rights and freedoms in Georgia was also discussed.

The Public Defender provided information to the Deputy Foreign Minister on human rights situation in Georgia and stressed changes that have been recently conducted in the PDO towards elimination of all forms of discrimination, protection of rights of persons with disabilities, justice and gender equality.

Special emphasis was put on necessity to establish the independent investigative mechanism, situation in closed institutions, rights of persons living in conflict regions, rights of minorities and progress of the justice reform.

The Public Defender of Georgia continues his official visit to the Czech Republic where he has been at the invitation of the Public Defender of Rights of the Czech Republic. On March 26-27, the Public Defender of Georgia will participate in a conference organized by his Czech colleague.
