Visit of First Deputy Public Defender of Georgia to New York

On July 23-26, 2018, First Deputy Public Defender Tamar Gvaramadze paid an official visit to New York, where she participated in the 9th meeting of the United Nations Working Group on Ageing.

The working group discussed the autonomy and independence of older persons, as well as topical issues of their long-term and palliative care. A report was made at the working group on the protection of the rights of older persons in Georgia, including challenges in palliative and long-term care.

In addition, on July 26, a meeting was held with representatives of Freedom House. Challenges in human rights protection in Georgia were discussed at the meeting.
