Bulletin, Periodical Edition - April 2017

The Public Defender of Georgia presented the April information bulletin, which provides information about the International Conference on Evolution and Challenges of Multil-mandate National Human Rights Institutions dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Public Defender’s Office of Georgia, the visit of the International Advisory Board, the meetings held in Strasbourg with Gianni Buquicchio, the President of the Venice Commission the of Council of Europe, Nils Muzynek, the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, Guido Raimondi, the President of the European Court of Human Rights, and other important persons.

The bulletin provides information about the discussion of the Public Defender’s recommendations in the Parliament’s Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee, the new system of monitoring the cases of femicide, which includes making detailed analysis of court decisions and study of the statistical data and information on the investigations and criminal prosecutions underway in the law enforcement agencies.

The information bulletin also reviews the recommendations developed for various agencies, the seminars and informational meetings held for raising civic education, the public statements, in which the Public Defender expresses his position on the ongoing events in the country, and the statistical data of applications submitted by citizens to the Public Defender's Office.
