Deputy Public Defender Ekaterine Skhiladze Delivers Speech at UN World Data Forum

On October 6, 2021, Deputy Public Defender Ekaterine Skhiladze participated in the UN World Data Forum. The forum was organized for the third time by the Swiss Federal Statistical Office and was attended by statisticians from more than 100 countries, representatives of private and public sectors, as well as stakeholders from international and regional organizations.

The forum aimed to raise awareness of data collection and emphasize the importance of gender-segregated data.

In her speech, Ekaterine Skhiladze stressed the importance of producing gender statistics and spoke about the example of Georgia in introducing sexual harassment legislation and femicide monitoring mechanism, which helped to improve existing practices and data collection.

The World Data Forum was held online and was attended by representatives of the media and academia as well.
