Working Meeting on Systemic Challenges and Ways for Improving Protection of Children's Rights in General Education Institutions
On October 30, 2025, the Public Defender's Office of Georgia, in cooperation with the European Union project - "Support to the Public Defender's Office", held a working meeting with the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia on the topic: "Monitoring the Protection of Children's Rights in General Education Institutions: Systemic Challenges and Ways for Improvement".
The meeting was attended by representatives of internal structural units of the Ministry of Education and subordinate legal entities under public law, as well as representatives of the Department of Children's Rights of the Public Defender's Office and other structural units.
At the opening of the event, Deputy Public Defender Irine Chikhladze and Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia Tamar Makharashvili emphasized the importance of protecting children's rights in the education system and the role of cooperation for this purpose.
The meeting discussed the current situation in terms of protecting children's rights in schools, systemic challenges and internal monitoring mechanisms, as well as ways for promoting the improvement of children's rights in general education institutions.
