On October 31, 2023, Public Defender of Georgia Levan Ioseliani renewed the memorandum of cooperation with the Georgian Union of Pensioners.

According to the memorandum, the Office closely cooperates with the Union of Pensioners in terms of organization of measures to promote the protection of the rights of older persons and in other areas.

It is one of the priorities of the Public Defender to promote the protection and realization of the rights of older persons. In the annual parliamentary reports, a separate chapter is devoted to the rights situation of older persons, describing problems existing in the mentioned direction and providing results of the monitoring of long-term care institutions and various cases studied by the Office.
