29th Annual Conference and General Assembly of European Network of Ombudsmen for Children
At the 29th Annual Conference and General Assembly of the European Network of Ombudsmen for Children (ENOC), held in Bucharest on 17-19 September 2025, Lika Ghvinjilia, an employee of the Department of Children's Rights of the Public Defender's Office of Georgia, was elected as the Child Protection Officer. In addition, the Public Defender's Office became a member of the working group reviewing applications for membership in the network.
At the conference, which was dedicated to children’s right to physical health, the results of a study conducted by the European Network of Ombudsmen for Children were discussed and recommendations were presented. Children representing the European Network of Young Advisors (ENYA) participating in the event presented their recommendations to ENOC members on the effective protection of children’s right to physical health.
During the General Assembly, the network members approved the ENOC 2025 Position Paper, in the development of which the Georgian Public Defender’s Office was actively involved.
The European Network of Ombudsmen for Children unites 44 independent institutions for the rights of the child. The aim of the network is to protect and promote the rights of the child, in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and its Optional Protocols, both through capacity building among its members, as well as through advocacy, sharing of experience and promoting mutual support.
The Public Defender’s Office continues its active cooperation with the European Network of Ombudsmen for Children.
