International Training on Forced Return of Migrants from EU Countries

On October 12-15, 2021, an international training was held with the assistance of the International Center for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights and the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex) and the financial support of the European Union.

The training was attended by representatives of the Georgian Public Defender's Office, the Office of the Ukrainian Parliament CommissionerforHuman Rights, Georgian and Ukrainian Migration Services.

The training reviewed in detail the stages and procedures of the joint return operation. Inter alia, the flight process was simulated on a practical level. An important part of the training focused on the monitoring of human rights during the return process and international standards in this area. The role of participants in the return operation and reporting methods were also discussed at the event. The training was led by international and local experts.
