Public Defender of Georgia Meets with Member of European Parliament
On 21 September 2018, the Public Defender of Georgia met with Ana Gomes, a Member of the European Parliament, and provided her information about the human rights situation in Georgia.
Nino Lomjaria briefly reviewed the cooperation between the Public Defender's Office and the Parliament of Georgia, including the results of parliamentary supervision over the Public Defender’s recommendations, as well as the reforms implemented in the judiciary system. The forthcoming presidential elections and election campaigns were also discussed at the meeting.
Special attention was paid to the difficult situation of human rights on the occupied territories, including ethnic discrimination of the Georgian population and non-execution of justice in crimes motivated by ethnicity.
