Public Defender Meets with Secretary General of Council of Europe

On July 2, 2023, Levan Ioseliani, Public Defender of Georgia, met with Marija Pejčinović Burić, Secretary General of the Council of Europe, who is paying an official visit to Georgia.

The Secretary General of the Council of Europe and the Public Defender reviewed the situation of human rights in Georgia, emphasized the issue of integration with Europe and the process of implementation of the 12-point plan.

The Public Defender spoke about the activities of the Office, ongoing projects, as well as the details of the 2023-2030 human rights strategy and action plan.

The Secretary General of the Council of Europe emphasized the special role of an independent institution in the conditions of current polarization, thanked the Public Defender for successful cooperation in the direction of human rights and expressed hope for the continuation of the mentioned practice in the future.
