Public Defender Meets with Prosecutor General

Public Defender of Georgia Levan Ioseliani met with Prosecutor General of Georgia Irakli Shotadze and talked about the directions of future cooperation.

The topics discussed at the introductory meeting included coordination mechanisms, format and importance of cooperation between the agencies, criminal justice policy, the practice of the use of measures of restraint, violence against women and femicide, juvenile justice, specialization of prosecutors and other issues.

The Public Defender expressed his hope for the future cooperation and joint measures planned within its framework to bring tangible results in the direction of improving the rights situation of victims on the one hand, and the accused and convicted on the other hand.

The meeting was also attended by Tamar Gvaramadze and Elene Ghudushauri, Deputies of the Public Defender, Natia Merebashvili, Deputy Prosecutor General, and Salome Shengelia, Head of the Human Rights Department.
