Public Defender Meets with Members of International Community

On November 12, 2021, Nino Lomjaria, Public Defender of Georgia, and Giorgi Burjanadze, Deputy Public Defender of Georgia, met with Andrius Kalindra, Ambassador of Lithuania to Georgia, Raimundas Lopata, Member of the Lithuanian Seimas and Head of the Group for Inter-Parliamentary Relations with Georgia, and Vilia Targamadze, Deputy Head of the Group.

On November 12, the Public Defender and the Deputy Public Defender also met with MEP Anna Fotyga.

The political situation after the local self-government elections and the impact of the elections on the country's democratic progress and human rights were discussed at the meetings. The conditions of detention of the third President of Georgia, the need to transfer him to a civil clinic due to his health condition and the challenges relating to his safety were also discussed.

Nino Lomjaria informed the guests about the activities of the Public Defender's Office and the findings of the monitoring.
